These days of discernment were very important for our congregation. In this time of election of our Superior General and General Council, the entire Hospitaller community accompanied us with their prayers.
The Chapter Assembly, encouraged by the Holy Spirit, elected the new Superior General of the Congregation of the Sisters Hospitallers of the Sacred Heart of Jesus: Sr Idília Maria Moreira G. Carneiro.
On 21 May the new General Council was elected, you can see all the details in this article.
The new General Council is composed of:
Vicar and 1st Councillor: Sr. Mª Begoña Pérez
2nd Councillor: Sister Mª Carmen Martín
3rd Councillor: Sr. Blanca Flor Guerrero
4th Councillor: Sr Nicole Mayinga
Without a doubt, 21 May was an unforgettable day, when we participated in the audience with Pope Francis. During the audience, we reflected on the value of hospitality in the light of the reality of people suffering from mental illness or disabilities.
The new Superior General of the Congregation, Sister Idília Maria Carneiro, thanked the Holy Father for his listening, encouragement and accompaniment and emphasised: ‘We shared a very moving and beautiful moment. The Pope welcomed us with his smile. I asked for his blessing for the Congregation, especially for this new stage of service to people with mental illnesses and disabilities’.
