142 years ago, Saint Benedict Menni, María Josefa Recio and María Angustias Giménez founded this Congregation with the aim of caring for women with mental illness, a sector of society that was marginalised and invisible at the time.
Today, the Hospitaller Mission is more alive than ever in each of the 85 centres of our congregation around the world, which help more than 820,000 people each year to embrace their suffering and find meaning in their pain.
On this special day for us, we share with you a video to pay tribute to our founders, who dedicated their lives to the service of the sick and most needy, following the example of Jesus the Good Samaritan, and who are a beacon on our daily journey in the practice of Hospitality.
May our Mother, Our Lady of the Sacred Heart, the first Hospitaller, whose feast we also celebrate today, guide and protect us always.
