Saint Benedict Menni Mental Health Center joined forces with the Ministry of Health in a workshop about the country’s mental health regulations

Mental health is a growing priority worldwide, and Liberia is no exception. In December, the Saint Benedict Menni Mental Health Center joined forces with the Ministry of Health and The Carter Center to participate in a workshop focused on reviewing and validating the country’s mental health regulations.

This collaborative effort brought together a diverse group of mental health professionals, legal experts, and other stakeholders to evaluate and refine existing regulations. The primary goal was to strengthen Liberia’s mental health system by ensuring better service delivery and safeguarding the rights of individuals receiving care.

Ato Kwamena Sagoe, the coordinator of the Saint Benedict Menni Mental Health Center, played an active role in these discussions. His contributions reflect the center’s ongoing commitment to addressing mental health challenges in the region. This workshop signifies a critical step toward sustainable mental health reform, ensuring that those in need receive the support they deserve.

By enhancing the legal framework, Liberia is working to create a mental health system that is both effective and inclusive, laying the groundwork for future progress.
