Creativity brings colour and connection to everyday life at St Augustine’s Care Home

Arts and crafts activities continue to enrich the lives of residents, encouraging creativity, wellbeing and meaningful connections

At St Augustine’s Care Home, creativity is much more than an enjoyable activity. It is an opportunity for residents to express themselves, strengthen friendships and experience the satisfaction of creating something with their own hands.

Recently, residents took part in a series of arts and crafts sessions, producing a wonderful collection of handmade decorations, including colourful wool flowers, decorative hand fans, photo frames, starfish and an impressive peacock created with vibrant feathers. Their artwork now brightens the home’s lounge, adding colour while reflecting the creativity and individuality of those who live there.

Creative activities play an important role in everyday life at St Augustine’s. As well as providing enjoyment, they encourage conversation, stimulate fine motor skills, promote confidence and create meaningful opportunities for residents to spend time together in a relaxed and welcoming environment.

Every creation tells a story, and every activity offers another opportunity to celebrate each person’s talents, interests and imagination. These moments reflect the person-centred approach that lies at the heart of Sisters Hospitallers, where wellbeing is nurtured through meaningful experiences and shared moments of joy.

We would also like to extend our sincere thanks to Nina, Angelo and Regina, whose generosity, encouragement and support helped make these sessions so enjoyable. Their kindness and commitment enabled residents to express their creativity and take pride in everything they achieved together.
