Sisters from our Delegation gathered in prayer at the altar during the 118th Anniversary of the Constitutions in Portugal

Celebrating the 118th Anniversary of the Constitutions within the 28th Plenary Council

On 16 March, within the context of the 28th Plenary Council in Idanha, Portugal, we celebrated a particularly meaningful day: the 118th Anniversary of the Constitutions of the Sisters Hospitallers.

It was a day marked by prayer, gratitude and a deep sense of communion, lived together as one Congregation.

The celebration of Lauds became a special moment in which we shared a prayerful, fraternal and apostolic experience, bringing before God the life and mission of each of our communities. Through this shared prayer, we felt once again united in our vocation and in the charism that gives meaning to our daily service.

The images from this day reflect something very special: the universality of the Congregation. The presence of different countries, represented through their flags, reminds us that our mission extends across cultures and realities, yet remains rooted in the same spirit of hospitality. It is a visible expression of a Congregation that walks together, enriched by its diversity.

This moment of prayer and thanksgiving also gave way to a day of reflection, listening and shared discernment. Working in groups, the sisters continued to deepen the path of restructuring and revitalisation that we are called to promote in this second stage of the process.

For this important work, we were accompanied by Sr. Mª Begoña Pérez and Bro. Emili Turú, FMS, whose guidance helped to enrich the dialogue and support the journey we are undertaking together.

This day forms part of the wider experience of the Plenary Council, a journey of renewal that we continue to share as a Congregation. You can read more about the beginning of this gathering here: 28th Plenary Council.

We invite you to take a moment to contemplate the images of this day, which reflect not only what we have lived, but also who we are: a community called to live and share hospitality with hope.

A fraternal and hospitable embrace.
