On International Women’s Day, we take a moment to recognise and celebrate the women who sustain the mission of Sisters Hospitallers every day in our centres and communities.
Across our centres and services in the English Delegation, women play an essential role in creating spaces of care, dignity and hope for those who need support.
Many of them are Sisters who have dedicated their lives to the Hospitaller vocation, continuing a tradition of hospitality that has shaped our mission for more than a century.
Alongside them are the many women who work across our centres, whose dedication sustains the daily life of our communities. Together with family members and volunteers, they help create environments where residents and patients feel welcomed, safe and respected.
Often, their work is expressed through the simple but powerful gestures of daily care: listening with patience, offering encouragement, sharing a smile, accompanying someone in a difficult moment or celebrating a small step forward in recovery.
These gestures may seem small, but they are the foundation of the Hospitaller spirit of care that defines our mission.
Today we also recognise the women who are part of our centres as patients and residents. Their journeys are sometimes marked by challenge and vulnerability, yet their strength, resilience and courage inspire our communities every day.
Through their stories of recovery, perseverance and hope, they remind us why the mission of hospitality matters.
Across our communities, women — Sisters, staff, family members, volunteers, patients and residents — contribute every day to sustaining spaces where people can feel valued, supported and accompanied.
Today we want to say thank you.
Thank you to the Sisters who continue to guide the mission of hospitality.
Thank you to the women who work across our centres with dedication and care.
Thank you to the family members and volunteers who accompany others with generosity.
And thank you to the women whose journeys as patients and residents inspire hope and resilience.
On this International Women’s Day, we celebrate every woman who is part of the Hospitaller family. Because through your dedication, your compassion and your presence, you help make hospitality visible every single day.
On this International Women’s Day, we also wanted to offer a small tribute to the women who are part of our Hospitaller family.
From the Sisters who founded and continue this mission, to the many women who work across our centres, volunteer, support their families, or are part of our communities as residents and patients — women are at the heart of the life of Sisters Hospitallers.
This short video is a tribute to all of them.
