At our centre in Monrovia, the Sisters Hospitallers recently carried out an outreach and awareness activity aimed at supporting individuals experiencing challenges related to substance use.
This initiative forms part of our ongoing commitment to promoting mental health, reducing stigma and supporting community well-being, especially among those who are most vulnerable.
The session brought together a group of participants and provided a safe and supportive space to explore the realities of addiction. Through open dialogue and guidance, the activity focused on increasing understanding of substance use, encouraging reflection and promoting positive behavioural change.
Participants were also introduced to the importance of seeking timely professional help and to the support systems available to accompany them on their journey towards recovery.
Beyond the educational aspect, the encounter was marked by a spirit of closeness, listening and respect, reflecting the Hospitaller approach to care: placing the person at the centre, recognising their dignity and walking alongside them with compassion.
We would like to express our sincere appreciation to Jeety Corporation for their generous support in providing meals for the participants. Their contribution helped create a welcoming environment and reinforced the sense of care and community that is essential in this type of initiative.
Through activities like this, we continue working together to build healthier communities, restore hope and support those affected by mental health challenges, remaining faithful to our mission of hospitality.
