Representatives of NASSCORP meeting with project partners to support mental health rehabilitation for women in Liberia

A contribution that expands opportunities for recovery and dignity for women receiving care in Monrovia

The St. Benedict Menni Mental Rehabilitation Centre in Monrovia has received a generous donation from the National Social Security and Welfare Corporation (NASSCORP). This contribution helps strengthen mental health rehabilitation in Monrovia, especially for women experiencing mental health challenges.

At the Centre, Sisters Hospitallers and healthcare professionals work together to support recovery. They provide medical care, psychosocial support and rehabilitation activities. Through this work, many women can begin to rebuild their lives.

However, many of the women receiving support face complex situations. Some experience stigma, social exclusion or limited access to specialised mental health services. Because of this, creating safe and supportive spaces is essential. These environments help women regain confidence and dignity.

The support from NASSCORP will improve rehabilitation programmes at the Centre. In particular, these activities encourage participation and help women develop practical life skills. As a result, they play an important role in rebuilding independence and social connections.

This initiative is also connected with the broader work developed through the “We Are Like You” project. The project supports mental health care and social inclusion initiatives linked to the St. Benedict Menni Mental Rehabilitation Centre in Monrovia.

Furthermore, the donation reflects a shared commitment to strengthening mental health support in Liberia. Partnerships like this are essential. They help promote awareness and encourage collaboration between institutions working for the wellbeing of vulnerable communities.

For the Sisters Hospitallers and the multidisciplinary team at the Centre, gestures like this are deeply meaningful. They show how solidarity and cooperation sustain the mission of hospitality. Above all, they help open new paths of hope for women on their journey towards recovery and renewed dignity.
