To mark World Oral Health Day, the outreach team from our centre of St Francis Xavier Hospital in Foso, Ghana, visited Foso Methodist B School to promote oral health among children.
This initiative reflects the ongoing commitment of the Sisters Hospitallers to promote health, prevention and well-being within the community. In particular, it focuses on supporting younger generations through education and early intervention.
During the visit, students took part in engaging sessions on oral hygiene. They learned simple but essential habits to care for their teeth and prevent common dental problems. At the same time, the team carried out basic oral health screenings, helping to identify needs and raise awareness about the importance of early care.
In addition, toothbrushes and toothpaste were distributed to the students. This ensures they have the tools needed to apply what they have learned in their daily lives.
Beyond the educational aspect, the activity created a space of closeness, trust and care. It also highlighted the importance of prevention and access to basic health resources as part of a wider commitment to dignity and well-being.
We extend our sincere thanks to Colgate, Pepsodent and all supporting partners for their valuable contribution. Their support made this initiative possible and helped create a welcoming and positive environment for the children.
Through initiatives like this, the Sisters Hospitallers continue to support healthier communities while promoting a culture of care, prevention and dignity for all.
