Today, we celebrate the Feast of Benedict Menni, founder of the Sisters Hospitallers and a figure whose legacy continues to guide our work around the world. His vision was rooted in a simple but powerful idea: that every person deserves to be treated with dignity, respect and compassion, especially those experiencing mental health challenges or complex needs.
This year, we mark the occasion with the theme: “We build and spread hospitality.” Hospitality is not only part of our history. It is something we actively create every day through our care, our relationships and our presence. Across our centres in the UK, Ghana and Liberia, this mission is lived in many ways: through mental health care and rehabilitation, through community outreach, and through the daily support offered to each person in our care.
Each act of kindness, each moment of attention, contributes to building environments where people feel safe, valued and understood. The legacy of St Benedict Menni continues not only in our services, but in the people who carry this mission forward. Today, we recognise and thank all those who make this possible.
The Feast of Saint Benedict Menni is a reminder that hope is a journey, not just a destination. As we honor his life and work, let us renew our commitment to walking the path he laid out—a path where no one is forgotten, where every individual is valued, and where healing and love are extended to all.
May we, like Saint Benedict Menni, become pilgrims of hope, bringing light to those in darkness and restoring dignity to those who have been cast aside. In this way, we make the spirit of the Jubilee Year 2025 a living reality in our world today.
