Days of reflection, shared experience and discernment centred on leadership, revitalisation and the future of the Hospitaller mission

On 5 and 6 May, the Meeting of Superiors continued in Madrid-Guadarrama, bringing together sisters in a space of reflection, formation and shared experience focused on leadership in Consecrated Life today.

The sessions were led by the Claretian religious Gonzalo Fernández, CMF, who accompanied the sisters throughout these days dedicated to deepening the challenges, responsibilities and opportunities involved in the service of leadership within the Congregation.

During the morning Eucharist on 5 May, Father Gonzalo invited the sisters “to interpret the best melody on the staff of life, where the key is Jesus”, a message that inspired the reflections and work carried out during the meeting.

Throughout the two days, the sisters reflected on the current challenges facing Consecrated Life and the importance of responding with openness, discernment and hope. Through a dynamic and participative methodology, the meeting created space to share experiences lived in the service of animation and governance within different communities and realities.

One of the key ideas highlighted during the sessions was that renewal goes beyond structural change. As reflected during the encounter, “it is not enough simply to restructure; it is necessary to revitalise, innovate and strengthen the vitality of the charism, while maintaining an attitude of continuous discernment and gratitude for the gift received.”

On 6 May, the reflections focused particularly on leadership and the process of institutional change. Through personal and group work, the sisters explored the values and attitudes needed to exercise synodal leadership rooted in listening, participation and shared responsibility.

The meeting also invited the sisters to recognise and value the gifts present in each person, discovering the hidden potential within every sister and welcoming, in the words shared during the sessions, “her five loaves and two fish.”

The encounter concluded with a deep sense of gratitude for the opportunity to continue walking together in this process of revitalisation, strengthening both personal vocation and the service of Hospitaller leadership within the Congregation.
