Testimony of one of the sisters that participate in the Assembly
Sr Isabel Cantón, sister of St Teresa’s care home in London, explains a little more about how she experienced this assembly and her feelings.
“The feeling is that God helps us in our weakness and I have hope that this process is part of God’s plans. Working well with a lot of interest and realism. Assuming that God has prepared the future and our task is to collaborate”.
Likewise, looking to the future, the sister talks about some of the problems of the congregation and the possible solutions. ‘Now we are becoming fewer, we have no vocations but hope for the future. Working with confidence and hope. God enters into our fragility, from the little he does his work. In me everything is hope and trust. God is not unaware of history, even the fact of being less of a sister is part of the Lord’s desire, we must open ourselves to the laity and work with people. We must make the world see God’s mercy and we can do this in our daily lives. The strength is in unity. We are part of a congregational body. A small part of the whole“.
As for her wishes for this Assembly, she explains that she has the joy of knowing that we are part of a congregation whose mission is to express the mercy of Jesus. “I hope that all collaborators and sisters can have the joyful awareness that we belong to and work in a congregation whose mission is to express the mercy of Jesus and we all have the values that can lead us to them”.
With regard to the Day with collaborators, she explains that her great wish is that they will come to appreciate and identify with the Hospitaller values. “Let us all live for the good of the sick. May there be more perseverance, people who want and promote it. May it be an impulse for the integration of the employees in the hospital’s mission and invite us to work together in an open spirit”.
