On 24 April the General Chapter began, today we tell you everything that has happened in the second week

On 24 April last, our congregation began its XXII General Chapter. It was a day of great joy and a day of profound reflection and importance for the Sisters Hospitallers, and which initiated a crucial process for our congregation. In this previous article, we talked about the first week of the General Chapter, and today we would like to recap the second week.

29/4 discernment and sharing in assembly

The personal work continued, by communities of discernment and sharing in assembly. An experience of reflection and also of shared learning which helps us to analyse together the present and to plan the future of Hospitality.
Aitor Jiménez (cmf), currently Under-Secretary of the Dicastery for Consecrated Life; an expert canonist who has been advising on the process of revising and updating the Directory, as he did previously with the revision of the Constitutions in 2022.
We generate spaces, physical and temporal, to grow as a Chapter Community, based on listening, welcoming diversity (cultural, linguistic, of experience) and the plurality of opinions. We want synodality to be not only a concept, but a practical inspiration in our Chapter.

30/04 – 01/05 Study of the Directory

We continue, as planned, with the study of the Directory. An opportunity to deepen our charism and to meet in diversity: of cultures, languages, ages, experience, vision of the present and of the future, etc. Another opportunity to see that the same charism and mission unites us and gives us a horizon.
Time also to celebrate in this synodal assembly, today, with a special remembrance for the Sisters of Our Lady of Africa, on their congregational feast. We join Piluca, our facilitator, in joy and celebration for so much good received in the Church.
We are especially grateful to the Pontifical Pio Latin American College, who every day accompany us and facilitate the celebration of the Eucharist, in a service that is certainly ecclesial.

02/05 End of the first stage of the General Chapter

We have reached the end of this first stage of the General Chapter, with the revision of the Directory completed in its entirety. These have been days of listening, dialogue and discernment of our Chapter community, based on the participation and contributions made by all the communities of the Congregation from the beginning of this process. Without doubt, an experience of communion and co-responsibility, building the future together!

03/05 Day of rest

This day of rest leaves space for personal reflection, before the final vote, on the normative and practical part of our Constitutions, the “Book of Life”. A group of sisters did not want to miss Mary in this month of May and they did so in the Church of Nostra Signora del Sacro Cuore, in Piazza Navona (Rome), a beautiful image of Our Mother, before which they prayed and in whose hands they placed the celebration of our XXII General Chapter and each sister. Our Chapter representatives Sr Lourdes Sánz and Sr Isabel Cantón were among those present.
