A day to honour the life, wisdom, and dignity of our elders

Today, 27 July 2025, we unite with the global Church to celebrate the 5th World Day for Grandparents and the Elderly, a day to honour the life, wisdom, and dignity of our elders.

This year’s theme, “Blessed are those who have not lost hope” (Sirach 14:2) shines a light on the strength and faith of many elderly people who, despite illness, loss, or loneliness, continue to radiate hope and courage. Their presence is a gift, and their witness is a source of strength for younger generations.

At Sisters Hospitallers, this day speaks directly to our hearts. Through our care homes , we accompany older adults with compassion, respect, and deep humanity. Inspired by the mission of our congregation, to care for those who suffer, especially the elderly and the sick, we strive to offer more than care: we offer a home, a community, and a place where hope is nurtured every day.

Places of Hope and Hospitality

In each of our care homes, our residents are not just patients, they are loved and valued members of our family. Our teams work daily to ensure that every person feels heard, respected, and never alone. Whether through medical care, companionship, or simply sharing a meal together, we aim to create spaces where life continues to be meaningful, joyful, and full of dignity.

Our vision is rooted in hospitality that embraces the whole person (body, mind, and spirit) and today’s celebration reaffirms that commitment.

An Invitation to All

On this special day, we invite everyone (families, communities, and individuals) to reach out to the elderly in your lives. A visit, a kind word, or a listening ear can rekindle hope and bring light to someone’s day. Let us celebrate grandparents and elderly persons not just today, but always, as living treasures of our society.

Together, with hearts full of gratitude and hope, we affirm:
Blessed are those who have not lost hope. And blessed are those who help them keep it alive.
