On 27th June, the Solemnity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, the Sisters of the three communities in England gathered in Addlestone for a moment of deep spiritual and congregational significance. They were joined by the Government of the Delegation for the celebration and official presentation of the fully revised Constitutions and Directory of the Congregation.
The Solemnity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus holds special meaning for the Sisters Hospitallers. It is a day that invite us to reflect on the compassionate and merciful heart of Christ, a heart that gives without measure, that loves unconditionally, and that serves as the perfect model for the charism of hospitality.
In communion with the entire Congregation and following the spiritual itinerary shared by the General Government, the Sisters participated actively in the celebration. The day was marked not only by prayer and reflection but also by a sense of joyful responsibility, as each Sister received the renewed texts with reverence and gratitude.
The handing over of the revised Constitutions and Directory was a symbolic and deeply moving moment. These documents are far more than guidelines, they are a living expression of the spirit, mission, and identity of the Sisters Hospitallers. Rooted in the Gospel and shaped by the legacy of their Founders, they reflect the evolving needs of the world and the Church, while calling each Sister to a renewed fidelity to her vocation.
The celebration was lived as an invitation to “be good soil,” open and ready to receive the seed of the Word made charism, so that it may bear fruit in abundance. Inspired by Constitution 348, the Sisters were reminded that their mission must always be clothed in the sentiments of the Heart of Jesus, their model, their strength, their guide, their all.
Throughout the day, the atmosphere in Addlestone was one of fraternity, grace, and shared purpose. The presence of the Sacred Heart was felt deeply, encouraging each Sister to continue her journey with courage, joy, and a heart renewed.
This gathering was not only a celebration of a feast or a formal presentation, but a sacred moment of recommitment, a fresh “yes” to the path of hospitality and compassionate service, in fidelity to the charism that defines their life.
As the Sisters in England return to their communities, they carry with them a renewed spirit and a strengthened unity with the entire Congregation, ready to live out the Constitutions with hearts open to the will of God and the needs of those they are called to serve.
