Today, we celebrate Easter Sunday, the most joyful and powerful feast of the Christian year. It is the day Jesus Christ rose from the dead, overcoming death, despair, and darkness with the triumphant light of new life.
This moment changes everything. The empty tomb is not a sign of absence—but of presence. It tells us that hope is stronger than sorrow, love is stronger than hate, and life is stronger than death.
The Resurrection is at the core of our belief. It is not only an event in history, but a living truth that speaks to us today. It reminds us that no matter how deep the pain or how heavy the cross, resurrection is always possible.
In the hospitals, care homes, and communities served by Sisters Hospitallers, Easter reminds us why we do what we do: to bear witness to the dignity of every life, to bring healing where there is hurt, and to share joy where there is loneliness.
In churches and chapels around the world—and in our own centres—Easter Sunday is marked by:
Many of our residents, staff, and Sisters gather for special services, shared meals, Easter blessings, and quiet moments of gratitude. Whether in a full chapel or at a bedside, the message is the same: God is with us. Love has triumphed. There is always hope.
The Resurrection is not just about what happened to Jesus—it is about what happens in us and through us, every day we choose to love, forgive, serve, and believe.
Especially in the lives of the vulnerable, the sick, and the forgotten, Easter calls us to be people of the Resurrection—to carry light into darkness, and to be living signs of God’s love.
Risen Lord, today we rejoice in the victory of life over death, light over darkness. Fill our hearts with the joy of Your Resurrection. May we bring Your hope to those who need it most. Renew us in faith, inspire us in love, and strengthen us in our mission. Amen.
