Today we would like to introduce you to Cristina Santiago, sister of the congregation for 30 years.
How long have you been a member of the Hospitaller Sisters?
In 2018 I celebrated 25 years as a Hospitaller Sister. 30 years ago.
What is your purpose, your mission in helping the Sisters Hospitallers?
My purpose is to continue responding to the Lord to the call I felt one day through the Hospitaller Religious Life to give my life to Him through the Charism of Hospitality, trying to respond to this call every day. Caring for this personal relationship with Him, (friendship), together with other sisters who have also felt this call (in community).
Living the joy of this vocation and sharing it with others so that they can also get to know Him closely and if God calls them to this particular charism they can follow Him.
What added value does participating in the hospital project add to your life?
The value of service. Throughout these years of dedication through the Hospitaller religious life, this is the added value, that one feels called to a mission. And the commitment is in the name of the community. Trying to respond with what one is, with one’s gifts and also with one’s limits, but knowing that He goes ahead.
You experience that you do not initially choose where to exercise hospitality, but that through your superiors you are entrusted with different tasks, responsibilities, but in this imitation of Jesus the Good Samaritan, who did not come to be served but to serve, living this gift together with others who make up the Hospitaller family in the area entrusted to you, I could say that the added value is service.
