From Monday to Wednesday, the Sisters Hospitallers in the UK welcomed Joan Uribe, General Director of Hospitality Europe, to several of our centres. The visit provided an opportunity to strengthen dialogue, share experiences from daily practice and reflect together on future collaboration at European level.
The visit provided a valuable opportunity to share experiences from our daily work, reflect together on current challenges in health and social care, and explore future opportunities for collaboration, guided by the values of hospitality, dignity and person-centred care. This Joan Uribe visit forms part of ongoing collaboration between Sisters Hospitallers and Hospitality Europe.
Over the three days, Joan Uribe visited the Sisters Hospitallers centres in Addlestone, Shenstone and London. In each location, he met with local teams, sisters and members of the management team.
During these meetings, teams explained daily life at the centres and their main areas of responsibility. They also discussed current challenges and ongoing work. In addition, time was dedicated to exploring future opportunities for collaboration with Hospitality Europe.
As a result, the visit created space for open dialogue and shared understanding. Throughout the meetings, the focus remained on person-centred care.
Hospitality Europe brings together organisations that provide care with a strong human focus. Its work supports people in vulnerable situations, including mental health challenges, addiction, disability, ageing, migration and social exclusion.
In this context, care is understood as both professional and compassionate. It aims to protect dignity, support recovery and encourage social inclusion across Europe. As a result, the visit showed a clear alignment between the mission of Hospitality Europe and the values of Sisters Hospitallers.
In addition, we would like to thank all teams across our centres, the sisters and the management team. Their support and collaboration were essential and made the visit meaningful for everyone involved.
