Specialised in gerontopsychomotricity, Sofia works on sensory stimulation and non-verbal communication to enhance the well-being and quality of life of people going through both typical and pathological ageing processes. In addition to being part of the unit’s multidisciplinary team, she also contributes to the implementation of community programmes such as the Senior Brain Gym, aimed at promoting active ageing and preventing dementia.
Mental health is a fundamental aspect of our wellbeing and it affects all of us, at all stages of life. In this episode, we focus on mental health in old age, but it is important to remember that, in the face of any emotional distress, doubts or difficult situations, it is always advisable to approach a specialised centre to talk to a professional. Taking care of our mental health is also an act of hospitality towards ourselves.
