The I Assembly of the Sisters Hospitallers’ Delegation will be held from the 7th to the 12th of December, at St Augustine’s Centre in Addlestone, Surrey. This important event, which will bring together sisters and collaborators, will define the future of the delegation for the next years. Due to this relevance, we are sharing during this week the reflections and expectations of some of the participants.
Today, we start this selection of interviews with Addisu Mulageta, Head of Finance of Sisters Hospitallers.
I expect a positive, forward-looking, and innovative approach to addressing challenges and opportunities. This assembly provides an opportunity to deepen our shared understanding of the Hospitaller mission, align goals across spiritual and operational dimensions, and shape a sustainable future for the delegation. It’s a chance to collectively ensure that our mission continues to thrive while adapting to evolving global needs.
Although I have been with the organization for just over two years, I have observed and contributed to significant financial improvements and the strengthening of our balance sheet. My work has included a comprehensive financial analysis of the last six years (2018–2023), with a particular focus on the 2023 audit report, which received strong positive feedback and commendations. These efforts, combined with enhanced internal controls and collaboration with colleagues, have positioned us to make informed decisions that align with the Congregation’s mission and long-term goals.
I bring positive energy, gratitude, and a spirit of collaboration, supported by extensive experience in the finance field. My contributions focus on fostering an environment of shared responsibility and offering actionable insights that align financial strategies with the Congregation’s core values. I aim to bridge financial stewardship with our mission, ensuring that resources are allocated effectively and ethically to sustain impactful care and operations.
This assembly will enhance my perspective on the Congregation’s broader goals, emphasizing the importance of investing time and effort into planning for the future. The discussions and outcomes from this meeting will shape my approach to resource management, operational strategies, and mission alignment, ensuring that my work continues to support the Congregation’s growth and values. It will also provide invaluable growth opportunities for my career, further strengthening my role within the organization.
The sisters are the pillars of our operations and Hospitaller values, embodying the essence of compassion and care. Collaborating with coworkers and staff not only builds on these foundational values but also enhances the Delegation’s achievements. Events like this foster unity, shared purpose, and innovation, ensuring that the Congregation continues to deliver exceptional care and services. By working together, we strengthen the mission, inspire new possibilities, and create a resilient foundation for the future.
